When it's raining outside we all know the day seems EXTRA LONG! What to do? What to do? A great way to pass time is to "Make Homeade Shadows". Explain what a shadow is and even show them using a light. Get large sheets of black paper and trace the childrens bodies and cut them out. The children can play with their shadows or hang them up around the room. The children can also trace their own shadows with eachother or using dolls, stuffed animals, etc. If you do not have access to large sheets of paper, just use regular sized paper and just trace body parts: hands, feet, head, legs, etc.

I did this activity with my kids on the weekend. I promised them we would take a drive to the lake but the weather was against us that weekend. :( I was searching on the net for things to do at home and came accross this activity.

I didn't have large sheets of paper so I used the different colors of construction paper that my kids have in their art trunk. It kept us busy all afternoon. They were putting their shadows everywhere and even put some in my husbands drawers and under the bed sheets for him to find by surprise. :P We all had a blast :!: :!: :!: :!:

Thanks for the all of the   you have on the site and in the forum.
